Beneficiaries

Recently married? Divorced? Had a child? Events which change your personal life may also need to be reflected in areas of your financial life. Make sure your accounts such as your IRAs, 401Ks or your life insurance policies reflect the desired primary or contingent beneficiary or beneficiaries based on your current life circumstances. When you opened your IRA account, began participating in your company 401K, or applied for life insurance, you were asked to designate a beneficiary or beneficiaries who would inherit the asset or receive the benefit upon your death. Take a moment to consider if there have been changes in your life that would cause you to modify these designations. It is typically an easy process to update this important information.
